John Kerry says over in the Democratic Daily

that we are slowly forcing a debate on the  Iraq war.  However, we are forgetting to address and push our political leaders to continue to do more than just stay the course in Afghanistan.  Afghanistan has been the dying ground for other empires.  Just look at it’s history - and it’s really what the extremists wanted to happen.

Afghanistan has the ability to bleed almost any nation dry - or at least that is what the extremists hoped.  Instead of that staging ground just being Afghanistan, Bush went into Iraq as well - and it’s now bleeding us dry - of funds, men, and resolve.

Both places (once you admit that we can’t just walk away from Iraq) need reineforcements and more international presence.  Let’s hope that if the Democrats take the majority in the coming elections that we don’t cut and run - but make the changes we need to make to ensure that not only U.S. interests are covered but international security.

Who in thier right mind really wants to empower Iran, Syria, etc….
